The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra has announced that the conductors Bernard Haitink, Kerem Hasan, Manfred Honeck and Thomas Hengelbrock have agreed to take over the concerts in the first four weeks of the 2018/2019 season which were originally scheduled with Daniele Gatti. The orchestra ended its collaboration with chief conductor Gatti on 2 August.

This August, Daniel Barenboim reunites with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra for a seven-city tour across Europe. Starting today 9/8 in Aaarhus, the tour will pass through Copenhagen, Aldeburgh, London (BBC Proms), Salzburg, Berlin and end in Lucerne on 22/8. Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, 93, was discharged from the Athens Medical Centre yesterday after three days of treatment. Theodorakis had been hospitalized on Friday after experiencing intense chest pain and suffering from a heart irregularity. Doctors said he had had a heart attack and should remain in the intensive care unit for 24 hours.
