The Arkansas Symphony has announced that the 2018-19 season will be Philip Mann’s last as ASO Music Director. The ASO will give the American conductor Mann the title of « Music Director Laureate » and hopes that « Mann will be able to continue his highly successful relationship with the ASO as he grows his international conducting presence and broadens his role within classical music. »

Der 65-jährige deutsche Dirigent, Musikforscher und Violinist Reinhard Goebel wurde mit sofortiger Wirkung zum Künstlerischen Leiter der ‘Berliner Barock Solisten’ ernannt. Das 1995 von Rainer Kussmaul gegründete Ensemble war seit 2010 ohne festen Künstlerischen Leiter und arbeitete projektbezogen mit unterschiedlichen Künstlern zusammen. Pro-Palestinian protesters burst into the Bozar in Brussels Thursday night where the Philadelphia Orchestra was performing. The protesters asked the orchestra to cancel the upcoming Israel part of its tour. Music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin stopped conducting. Security ushered the protesters out of the hall, and the concert resumed about 25 minutes later.
