French ad hoc orchestra Chambre Philharmonique is shutting down, according to our colleagues from ResMusica. The reason is that since he became Music Director of the French National Orchestra, Emmanuel Krivine has no longer enough time for the Chambre Philharmonique which he founded together with his partner Anne Maury, a violinist, in 2004.

American conductor Tito Munoz, 34, has agreed to a contract extension as Music Director of the Phoenix Symphony (Arizona). Munoz joined the Phoenix Symphony in the 2013-14 season. He was previously Music Director of the Opéra national de Lorraine and Orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Nancy in Nancy, France, and Ensemble LPR in New York City, as well as Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Aspen Music Festival and School.

Daniil Trifonov

Bei einem Fahrradunfall vor wenigen Tagen in New York hat sich Daniil Trifonov eine Fußverletzung zugezogen, die ihn daran hindert, die Pedale am Flügel zu bedienen. Auf ärztlichen Rat hin, hat der 27-jährige Pianist die Tournee mit der Kremerata Baltica und Gidon Kremer abgesagt. Laut seiner Agentur ist sein nächstes Konzert nun am 25. Juli in Verbier, Schweiz.

English conductor Andrew Massey (*1946) passed away in his home in Vermont on June 1st, after a long battle with prostate cancer. Massey has been primarily active in the United States. From 1991–2002 he was Music Director of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. He had previously held the post of principal conductor with the Fresno Philharmonic, the New Orleans Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra. He most recently served as conductor for the Middlebury College Orchestra.
