Due to the growing difficulties that Cubans are having getting visas to travel to the United States, the Cuban National Orchestra has canceled a planned U.S. tour that included an concert in Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra announced. The tour was scheduled for February 2019. According to American media, the Trump administration withdraw 60 percent of its diplomats from Cuba because of mysterious “health attacks” in Havana. With fewer employees, the U.S. Embassy in Havana stopped visa processing.

Zubin Mehta kann « aus gesundheitlichen Gründen » mehrere geplante Konzerte mit den Wiener Philharmonikern nicht wahrnehmen. Betroffen davon sind Auftritte im Musikverein sowie Tourneedaten im April und Mai, wurde am Mittwoch mitgeteilt. Für den 81-jährigen indischen Dirigenten werden Daniel Harding sowie Andres Orozco-Estrada einspringen. Die betroffenen Tourneekonzerte sind in Genf, Tampere, Kopenhagen, Aalborg und Stockholm geplant.

The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice is performing ICMA’s Gala Concert 2018 tomorrow, 6 April at the NOSPR Concert Hall in Katowice. The concert will be conducted by NOSPR Music Director Alexander Liebreich, as well as by Manfred Honeck, Music Director of the Pittsburgh Symphony and ICMA Artist of the Year. The Orchestra, « ranks among the leading European ensembles », the Jury says, and is a winner of an ICMA Special Achievement Award. Das grosse Festspielhaus in Salzburg
Die Osterfestspiele Salzburg haben wiederum zahlreiche Musikliebhaber in die Stadt gelockt, meldet der Veranstalter. Mit 19.000 verkauften Karten bei 15 Veranstaltungen wurde eigenen Angaben zufolge eine Sitzplatzauslastung von etwa 93 Prozent im Großen Festspielhaus erreicht, die Opernpremiere, das Konzert für Salzburg und das Chorkonzert am Karfreitag waren ausverkauft.
