The French Minister of Culture, Françoise Nyssen, has announced the creation of a National Center of Music to support the French creation. The project could be realized early in 2019. The new Center is to preserve the diversity of creation and « support our production in a context of increased competition and give ourselves the means to conquer international markets », the Minister said.

The Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary has announced the Bartok World Competition of Composition. It is open for composers from all over the world, aged 40 or under. It concerns works for solo piano. The award-winning works will be performed at the final Gala Concert on 25 November 2018, and will be part of the repertoire of the next Bartok World Competition for young pianists in 2019. The Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) has admitted Polskie Radio Chopin as Jury member. Polskie Radio Chopin was launched in November by the Polish public radio. It is entirely dedicated to classical music and operates 24/24 in the Internet. Soprano Nadine Sierra has received the 13th annual Beverly Sills Artist Award for young singers at New York’s Metropolitan Opera. The $50,000 award, the largest of its kind in the United States, is given to particularly gifted singers between the ages of 25 and 40 who have already appeared in featured solo roles at the Met.
