Due to the growing difficulties that Cubans are having getting visas to travel to the United States, the Cuban National Orchestra has canceled a planned U.S. tour that included an concert in Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra announced. The tour was scheduled for February 2019. According to American media, the Trump administration withdraw 60 percent of its diplomats from Cuba because of mysterious “health attacks” in Havana. With fewer employees, the U.S. Embassy in Havana stopped visa processing.

The concert will be conducted by NOSPR Music Director Alexander Liebreich, as well as by Manfred Honeck, Music Director of the Pittsburgh Symphony and ICMA Artist of the Year.
