The first edition of the International Competition Piemonte Opera – Voci dal Mondo will take place in the Aula Magna of the University of Turin in May 2018. During their General Assembly at the Philharmonie in Luxembourg, the Jury of the International Classical Music Awards has renewed the mandate of the Board for three years. The Board is composed by Serhan Bali (Andante), Nicola Catto (Musica), Michelle Debra (Crescendo), Remy Franck (Pizzicato), Martin Hoffmeister (MDR Kultur). For its 13th edition, the International Piano Competition Orléans, France, welcomes 42 selected candidates from 15 different countries. They countries will compete during four rounds for which audience is welcome. Lahav Shani

The Israeli Lahav Shani, 29, has been named Music Director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and will succeed Zubin Mehta in 2020. Mehta became Music Director in 1977. Shani will also become the chief conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in September 2018 (succeeding Yannick Nézet-Séguin) and recently became the principal guest conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, he won first prize at the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in Bamberg.

The rumours were right. Jean-Luc Choplin quits his position as Artistic manager of the new cultural complex La Seine Musicale west of Paris. Less than a year after the inauguration of the new hall in Boulogne-Billancourt, Choplin announced that he would devote himself to other projects. La Seine Musicale says in a press release that they will establish a new artistic organization.
