The rumours were right. Jean-Luc Choplin quits his position as Artistic manager of the new cultural complex La Seine Musicale west of Paris. Less than a year after the inauguration of the new hall in Boulogne-Billancourt, Choplin announced that he would devote himself to other projects. La Seine Musicale says in a press release that they will establish a new artistic organization.

Die Berliner Staatsoper ‘Unter den Linden’ will ein neues Publikum gewinnen, unter anderem über Video-Streaming, Jugendangebote und eine ‘Opern-Flatrate’. Das sagte Ko-Intendant Matthias Schulz bei einer Anhörung im Kulturausschuss des Berliner Abgeordnetenhauses.

Wegen der Veröffentlichung eines sogenannten Shreds, eines nachvertonten Videos mit satirischem Text, von Daniel Hope und Ludovico Einaudi hat der Konzertdramaturg Arno Lücker seinen Job beim Berliner Konzerthaus verloren. Der Musikpublizist Moritz Eggert wirft in einem ‘Offenen Brief’ auf seinem ‘Bad Blog of Musick’ dem Geiger Daniel Hope vor, hinter der Kündigung von Arno Lücker zu stehen.
The Russian Minister of Culture has appointed conductor Ara Karapetyan as General Manager of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera. From 1992–1997, he was conductor at the Perm Opera. He was also conductor and General Manager of the Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre in Moscow. Since 2017, he has been a guest conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre. In Novosibirsk he succeeds Vladimir Kekhman who officially left this post on December 4, continuing to work in the theatre artistic director.

An Aeroflot plane could be named after deceased singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Russian media report. Yury Shvytkin, a member of the State Duma, has sent a letter to Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov and General Director of Aeroflot Russian Airlines, Vitaly Saveliev, with a proposal to consider the possibility of assigning the name of the late opera singer to a plane of the airline.
