The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra concluded its first season under music director Eckart Preu with double-digit increases in attendance and ticket sales. And their Summermusik in August had its total attendance increased by 22 percent, and several smaller events quickly sold out. Sales of Festival Passes, which provided entry to all or several events, rose by 42 percent.

Can Cakmur

Turkish pianist Can Cakmur is the 11th winner of the Scottish International Piano Competition. The 20-year-old receives £10.000, the Sir Alexander Stone Memorial Trophy and the Frederic Lamond Gold Medal, and will perform with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in their 2018/19 season. Can Cakmur is studying in Weimar and holds a scholarship from the International Music Academy of Liechtenstein.

Er studierte Harfe und wurde zunächst Harfenist und Solorepetitor am Theater Heilbronn. 1946 wurde er Kapellmeister in Freiburg. 1954 wechselte er an die Düsseldorfer Oper.
