Das ‘Israel Philharmonic Orchestra’ zeichnet den österreichischen Pianisten Rudolf Buchbinder (70) mit der « Ehrenmitgliedschaft auf Lebenszeit » aus. Verliehen wird ihm der Titel am morgigen 25. März bei einer Feierstunde im Palais Schönburg in Wien. Anlass ist die Gründung eines österreichischen Freundesvereins des vor 80 Jahren gegründeten Orchesters.

The Texan Austin Opera has received a considerable gift from arts benefactors Sarah and Ernest Butler. Ther couple donated $1 million to support the company’s artistic director Richard Buckley. “We hope that our gift will enable the company to flourish for years to come,” said Ernest Butler.

Im Herbst 2017 wird der Chefdirigent des MDR-Sinfonieorchesters, Kristjan Järvi, 44, seine letzte Spielzeit in Leipzig einläuten, meldet der Sender. Nach sechs Jahren Zusammenarbeit möchte der gebürtige Este den Fokus auf verschiedene andere Projekte richten, verlautet vom MDR. Das ‘Baltic Sea Philharmonic ‘und das ‘Absolute Ensemble’ würden weiterhin seine festen Ensembles bleiben, daneben werde der Allround-Musiker als Gastdirigent auftreten.

Das Schweizer Auktionshaus Koller versteigert am 1. April ein bisher unbekannt gebliebenes Musikmanuskript des jungen Mendelssohn, sein einziges Autograph Mendelssohns zu Bachs Matthäuspassion. Nach den handschriftlichen Aufzeichnungen im Innendeckel des sich gegenwärtig in Schweizer Privatbesetz befindlichen Bandes schrieb Mendelssohn die beiden Arien und das Recitativ für Agnes Schubring auf, der Schwester seines Freundes und späteren Librettisten Julius Schubring, und zwar 1830 anlässlich eines Besuches in deren Haus in Quellendorf bei Dessau.
