Der Liederabend mit Jonas Kaufmann (47) am heutigen Sonntagabend im Theater Güterlsoh wurde abgesagt. Es sollte der erste Auftritt des Tenors nach einer Stimmbanderkrankung sein. Angeblich ist Kaufmann jetzt erkältet. Der nächste Termin ist am 22. November im Teatro Real in Madrid, danach soll Kaufmann für drei Konzerte nach Japan fliegen.

British conductor Simon Rattle was won as new principal conductor for the London Symphony (LSO) with the promise to build a new concert hall for the orchestra.

Die Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau erhält den mit 10.000 Euro dotierten Landesmusikpreis. Das Ensemble setze seit Jahren maßgebliche künstlerische wie inhaltliche Impulse, teilte das Kultusministerium mit. Besonders lobenswert sei das Engagement in der musikpädagogischen Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen in der gesamten Region Dessau. Die Philharmonie spielt seit Jahren mit dem Orchester der Dessauer Musikschule ‘Kurt Weill’ gemeinsame Konzerte. Gelobt werden auch das Engagement beim Kurt Weill Fest sowie beim Impuls-Festival in Halle.

Was bereits abzusehen war, als die Stadt Trier 2014 den umstrittenen Karl Sibelius als Theaterintendanten einstellte, trifft nun zu: Der Stadtvorstand hat einstimmig die Trennung von Sibelius beschlossen. Nun sind der sogenannte Steuerungsausschuss und der Stadtrat am Zug. Der geplante Rauswurf wird bereits rechtlich von einer Anwaltskanzlei geprüft.  Sibelius wird vorgeworfen, das Defizit des Theaters Trier im Laufe von 2016 auf fast 2,5 Millionen Euro gebracht zu haben. In 2015 waren es ‘nur’ 1,3 Millionen Euro. Die endgültige Entscheidung des Stadtrats wird für den 17. November erwartet.

Under fascist leaders, culture and especially music risk losing a lot of support. So, the day after the American shock, Europeans, French and German people in the front line, have to learn that the only possibility to stop this nightmare is to fight it with all the possible democratic and civilian means. And first of all, we should stop calling those people right-wing, populist or whatever other belittling cosy names.
