After another round of chemotherapy, Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky is back on stage, starting today a tour in Germany with War, Peace, Love and Sorrow concerts Joined by long-time musical partner Constantine Orbelian, Hvorostovsky headlines a program with songs of War, Peace, Love and Sorrow. The tour begins in Frankfurt. Next month Hvorostovsky is scheduled to sing in Riga, Barcelona and Paris and Giorgio Germont at the Vienna State Opera.

 

Mit einem Konzert der NDR Elbphilharmonie unter der Leitung von Thomas Hengelbrock im Kraftwerk Peenemünde ist am gestrigen Freitag das 23. Usedomer Musikfestival zu Ende gegangen, das in diesem Jahr unter dem Länderschwerpunkt ‘Schweden’ stand. 36 Konzerte mit insgesamt 423 Musikern setzten die Vielfalt der Musikkultur Schwedens an den reizvollsten Konzertorten der Insel Usedom für drei Wochen in Szene. 14 000 Besucher kamen zu den 36 Konzerten. Die Platzauslastung lag bei 94 Prozent.

French conductor Fabien Gabel (*1975) has been named Music director of the French National Youth Orchestra (Orchestre Français des Jeunes) for 2017 and 2018. He will succeed David Zinman, music director in 2015 and 2016. Gabel has studied with Zinman for several years.

On October 20, Air France flight AF264 will take French Ensemble Matheus to Seoul for their tour in South Korea. In fact, the tour will begin already aboard the French plane: Jean-Christophe Spinosi and his musicians will play six musical interludes of 10 minutes each in the Economy and Business Class cabins.
