Mit Kammermusik klang das diesjährige Moritzburg Festival heute Morgen in der Kirche Moritzburg aus. In insgesamt 14 Konzerten sowie zwei Porträtkonzerten, zwei Komponistengesprächsrunden, drei öffentlichen Proben und einem Gastkonzert in Bad Elster konnte das Moritzburg Festival in diesem Jahr ca. 6.000 Besucher begeistern und mit einer Auslastung von 97 Prozent an die Vorjahre anknüpfen. American conductor Paul Nadler will step in for Trent Brown as Music Director of the Gulfshore Opera in Naples, Florida. Nadler is a founding member of the GO board of directors. He is known internationally as an operatic and symphonic conductor. Since his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1989, he has led the company in more than 60 performances with singers such as Placido Domingo, Renée Fleming, Anna Netrebko and Luciano Pavarotti.

Die Bregenzer Festspiele haben am gestrigen Freitag eine Erfolgsbilanz über die am Sonntag zu Ende gehende 71. Festspielsaison veröffentlicht. Es wurden 213.000 Besucher gezählt, davon allein 160.000 für die Wiederaufnahme von Giacomo Puccinis ‘Turandot’ auf der riesigen Seebühne. Die Auslastung lag bei 94 Prozent. Die Opern im Festspielhaus (Hamlet – 4.612 Besucher) und im Theater am Kornmarkt (Don Giovanni – 1.940 Besucher), sowie ‘Die Staatsoperette’ (934 Besucher) auf der Werkstattbühne waren jeweils ausverkauft. Gut besucht waren auch Orchesterkonzerte und zahlreiche andere Veranstaltungen.

The Estonian Olympic Committee has appointed Kristjan Järvi as ambassador. The Estonian conductor is the first non-athlete to hold a senior position as a standing member.“It is an honour to be part of the Olympic movement in some small way. Music is an inspirational force, it helps people fulfil their potential and in sport this is vital. Every sportsman and woman tends to use music in some way to inspire, whether it is in the gym or prior to them starting a race, so it is a natural step to see how this can be expanded upon,” Järvi said, in a statement.
