The Taichung Metropolitan Opera House, which is to open on Sept. 30, will possibly run an annual deficit of NT$ 150 million (US$ 4.7 million), the National Audit Office said. Das grosse Festspielhaus in Salzburg
Bei den Salzburger Festspielen standen dieses Jahr insgesamt 192 Aufführungen in 41 Tagen und an 14 Spielstätten auf dem Programm. 259.018 Zuschauer besuchten die regulären Veranstaltungen, die Sonderveranstaltungen und Proben. Anton Lubchenko
According to Russian media reports, Anton Lubchenko, composer and former artistic director of the Primorsky Theatre of Opera and Ballet (now part of the Mariinsky Theatre), was arrested by the police and convoyed to Vladivostok, where he was jailed. The detention is linked to a police investigation about abuse of power and inefficient spending of budget funds.

Dutch conductor Jaap van Zweden, 55, will be heading the Gstaad Conducting Academy and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra in Gstaad as of 2017, for 2 years with an option of extension. He will conduct 2 to 3 programs a year. Performances at the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival have already been scheduled for August 2017. Van Zweden is music director in Dallas and Hong Kong. Starting with the 2018/19 season, van Zweden becomes music director of the New York Philharmonic.
