Aus Krankheitsgründen hat der scheidende Gewandhauskapellmeister Riccardo Chailly seine drei letzten Auftritte in Leipzig abgesagt, darunter das offizielle Abschiedskonzert am kommenden Sonntag, mit Mahlers dritter Symphonie. Dieses Konzert fällt komplett aus, die beiden anderen Termine übernimmt Chaillys Nachfolger Andris Nelsons, der sein Amt offiziell im Februar 2018 antreten wird.

Casemates, Luxembourg

Riccardo Chailly wird die Saison 2016/17 der Mailänder Scala mit Puccinis ‘Madama Butterfly’ eröffnen und dabei nicht die normerweise gespielte revidierte Fassung von 1907, sondern die Originalversion von 1904 benutzen, die bei der Uraufführung an der Scala durchgefallen war. Laut Berichten in der italienischen Presse hat sich die Enkelin des Komponisten, Simonetta Puccini, gegen die Benutzung der Originalfassung ausgesprochen, da Puccini sie ganz klar verworfen habe. Weil die Oper längst zum Gemeingut gehört, kann Simonetta Puccini rechtlich nichts gegen die Aufführung unternehmen.
