Alfredo Kraus

Las Palmas will host the legacy of Alfredo Kraus and an international competition with his name. This has been decided by Rosa Kraus, a daughter of the great Canary tenor, and the Council of Gran Canaria. Under the agreement the transfer of Kraus’s legacy to the island will be operated and lead to the establishment of the Foundation Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas and the creation of an international singing competition. The transfer of material should be completed in September and the first edition of the International Alfredo Kraus Competition could take placed already in 2017.

Stefan Arzberger

Der Geiger Stefan Arzberger, der in Folge seiner Gerichtsaffäre in New York seinen Posten im Leipziger Streichquartett aufgeben musste, sieht keine Zukunft für sich in Leipzig. Das berichtete der MDR. Arzberger reist am heutigen Montag von New York, wo er seit März 2015 festgehalten wurde, nach Deutschland zurück. Laut demselben MDR-Bericht liege ihm ein Angebot für eine Orchestermitgliedschaft im süddeutschen Raum vor.

Gabriel Feltz

German conductor Gabriel Feltz, 45, will become Chief Conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra from the 2017-18 season. A graduate of the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music, Feltz currently serves as the Generalmusikdirektor in Dortmund.

Paavo Järvi’s Estonian Festival Orchestra « is a real living animal with a beating heart and an appetite for adventure, the conductor says in a press realase. Until now the Estonian Festival Orchestra, founded by Paavo Järvi in 2011, has performed only at the Pärnu Music Festival, but in August 2017 it will make its first tour performing in neighbouring countries around the Baltic coast and at Scandinavia’s most prominent festivals. The Algerian Opera house has been inaugurated last Wednesday with a concert of the National Algerian Symphony Orchestra. The building is the residence for the National Orchestra, the National Ballet and a World Music Orchestra. While the house is not completely finished, the management is finalizing cooperation plans with the operas from Cairo, Paris and Milan.
