Im Opernstreit um die zwei zeitgleich geplanten Neuproduktionen von Richard Wagners ‘Ring des Nibelungen’ an der ‘Deutschen Oper’ und der Staatsoper in Berlin bezieht die Leitung der für beide Häuser zuständigen Opernstiftung Position für die Deutsche Oper. Da der doppelte ‘Ring’ nach dem Reglement der Opernstiftung nicht möglich ist und die ‘Deutsche Oper’ Wagners Opus bereits im Jahr 2012 für die Saison 2019/20 deponiert habe, soll dieser auch der Vortritt gehören. Mit einer Auslastung der Kirchen-, Sinfonie- und Chorkonzerte von 90 Prozent und rund 8600 Besuchern geht ‘Lucerne Festival’ zu Ostern an diesem Sonntag zu Ender. Das Festival präsentierte insgesamt 15 Veranstaltungen. The Cliburn Foundation released the following statement by pianist Vadym Kholodenko about the deaths of his young daughters on Thursday, while his wife, Sofya Tsygankova, is still held for mental evaluation: “Being in a great grief I would like to address this message to everyone who thinks about my family. The loss of my children will be with me forever. But I would like to say that I feel the support of the Fort Worth community and all people who are sending me messages all over the world. (…) Wherever I go after this tragedy my heart will stay with the people here of Fort Worth and my daughters will rest in this soil.”
Pianist Vadym Kholodenko, the winner of the gold medal at the Van Cliburn in 2013, is not a suspect after his two young daughters were found dead in their beds, yet their mother injured by multiple stabbing is being held at a hospital for a mental health evaluation, police said Friday. Read More →

The ‘Grand Prix Lycéen des Compositeurs 2016’ (17th edition) was awarded to Karol Beffa for his Concerto for Viola and Strings. The competition was run by over 1000 students and teachers representing 35 French high schools. Other Composers in competition were Régis Campo, Bechara El-Khoury, Laurent Lefrançois, Jacques Lenot and Christian Zanési.
The Star-Telegram in Fort Worth is reporting about the death of two children and the stabbing of their mother. The family is the one of Cliburn gold medalist Vadym Kholodenko, who lives separated from his wife and has filed for divorce. Kholodenko is scheduled to play this weekend with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. An update will follow as soon as more details are known.
Die Landeskapelle Eisenach hat den 34-jährigen Österreicher Andreas Fellner als neuen Chefdirigenten verpflichtet. Fellner, bislang Kapellmeister am Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach, wird im Herbst in Eisenach Nachfolger von Daniel Klajner, der als Intendant ans Theater Nordhausen geht.
