British conductor Jonathan Nott, has signed an very long contract extension as music director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He will lead this orchestra until 2026. Jonathan Nott will also head the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva from 2016 on.

The governors of the Sibelius Society have awarded the Sibelius Medal to the Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi. The National Opera in Paris had to cancel the first performance of the new season, the premiere of ‘Madama Butterfly’ yesterday evening due to a strike of the staff. The opera was to be conducted by Daniele Rustioni and staged by Robert Wilson, with Oksana Dyka in the title role.
