Flüchtlinge und ihre Helfer planen in Deutschland ein syrisches Exil-Orchester. Initiator ist der syrische Kontrabassist Raed Jazbeh, der seit zwei Jahren in Deutschland lebt und der früher im Philharmonischen Orchester Syriens gespielt hat. Ein erstes Konzert soll nach deutschen Medienberichten am 22. September in der evangelischen Kulturkirche St. Stephani in Bremen stattfinden.

British conductor Jonathan Nott, has signed an very long contract extension as music director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He will lead this orchestra until 2026. Jonathan Nott will also head the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva from 2016 on.

The governors of the Sibelius Society have awarded the Sibelius Medal to the Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi.
