Statsoper Unter den Linden

Die Renovierung der Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin wird nochmals teurer. Zu den zuletzt vorgesehenen 389 Millionen Euro kommen nun weitere 10,5 Millionen hinzu. Die Sanierung soll also statt der ursprünglich vorgesehenen 239 Millionen rund 400 Millionen Euro kosten. Statt des längst vergangenen Termins von 2013 soll das Opernhaus nun im Herbst 2017 wieder eröffnet werden.

An Australian business man and arts patron Peter Weiss has bought the former home of the late composer Peter Sculthorpe who died in August 2014. Weiss will move into the house, yet the annexed studio, where the composer worked, will be turned in a venue for small concerts and masterclasses.

String quartet, piano trio and cello sonata will reveal different facets of the composer, alongside works by his contemporaries Chopin and Alkan or essential compositions by Saint-Saëns and Debussy. The Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2015 Tour of Europe marks Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Orchestra’s inaugural tour of Europe together, as well as the 60th anniversary of the Orchestra’s first visit to the European Continent, with 14 concerts in 10 cities over three weeks. Beginning in Luxembourg May 21, the Tour makes appearances in Dortmund, Lyon, Cologne, Dresden, Berlin, Paris, Vienna, and Amsterdam, concluding on June 6 in London. Read More →
