The jury of the 10th Dublin International Piano Competition has awarded First Prize to Nathalia Milstein (18) from France. Second Prize went to Alexander Bernstein (26, USA), Third Prize to: Alexander Beyer (20, USA) and Fourth Prize to Caterina Grewe (27, Germany/Japan). The competition started with the 63 candidates.

David Pickard, 55, currently General Director at Glyndebourne Opera Festival, has been appointed Director of the BBC Proms in London. He will take up his new role later this year. Edward Blakeman, Director, BBC Proms 2015, will continue to lead the festival throughout this year’s season and ahead of Pickard’s arrival.

Mit einer ausverkauften Vorstellung von Händels ‘Agrippina’ endeten am gestrigen Pfingstmontag, 25. Mai, die Internationalen Händel-Festspiele Göttingen 2015, die unter dem Motto Heldinnen!? rund 19.500 Besucher nach Göttingen und in die Region lockten. In den über 100 Veranstaltungen gab es bei der Oper eine Spitzenauslastung von 96 %. Auch die Regionalkonzerte waren mit 92 % Auslastung ein Erfolgsfaktor. Insgesamt lag die durchschnittliche Auslastung in den 31 Spielstätten jedoch nur bei 75 %. Grund hierfür ist eine relativ geringe Auslastung bei zwei Stadthallenkonzerten und einigen Kammerkonzerten in Göttingen.
