For the third edition of its Paris festival (29 May – 05 June), the Palazzetto Bru Zane (Centre de musique romantique française) turns the spotlight on George Onslow, thus closing the cycle dedicated to him throughout spring 2015. String quartet, piano trio and cello sonata will reveal different facets of the composer, alongside works by his contemporaries Chopin and Alkan or essential compositions by Saint-Saëns and Debussy. The Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2015 Tour of Europe marks Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Orchestra’s inaugural tour of Europe together, as well as the 60th anniversary of the Orchestra’s first visit to the European Continent, with 14 concerts in 10 cities over three weeks. Beginning in Luxembourg May 21, the Tour makes appearances in Dortmund, Lyon, Cologne, Dresden, Berlin, Paris, Vienna, and Amsterdam, concluding on June 6 in London. Read More →

Sylvain Cambreling hat seinen Vertrag als Generalmusikdirektor der Oper Stuttgart bis 2018 verlängert. Der 66-jährige Franzose ist seit September 2012 auf diesem Posten. Gleichzeitig ist er Chefdirigent des ‘Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra’ in Tokio.
Nach den rezenten Warnstreiks haben sich der Deutsche Bühnenverein als Arbeitgeberverband der Theater und Orchester und die Künstlergewerkschaften heute in Köln auf Gagenerhöhungen für die künstlerischen Mitarbeiter der Stadttheater, Staatstheater und Landesbühnen sowie für die Musiker der Orchester verständigt. Für die Einrichtungen der Länder einigten sich die Tarifparteien auf 2,1 Prozent mehr Lohn ab 1. März 2015. Die Lohnerhöhung an kommunalen Theatern und Orchestern steigen zum selben Zeitpunkt um 2,4 Prozent.

Es geht daraus hervor, dass der künstlerische Leiter des Mariinsky-Theaters, Valery Gergiev, der absolute Marktführer bei den Einnahmen ist. Sascha Goetzel, Chefdirigent und künstlerischer Leiter des ‘Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra’ und Ahmet Erenli, Generaldirektor der Borusan Kulturstiftung haben in Istanbul einen Verlängerungsvertrag bis 2018 unterzeichnet. Goetzel ist seit der Saison 2008/09 ist künstlerischer Leiter und Chefdirigent des türkischen Orchesters, mit dem er drei CDs für Onyx aufgenommen hat.
