Beklagt wurde vor allem, dass manche Generalmusikdirektoren zu wenig in der Oper dirigierten, zu kurze Anwesenheitszeiten hätten und sich zu viel in die Gestaltung von Spielplänen sowie in Besetzungsfragen einmischten. The Minnesota Opera president and executive director, Kevin Ramach, resigned unexpectedly on Thursday. In a company announcement he says that he wants to return to his « creative interests ». The company quickly appointed Nina Archabal, director and historic preservation officer of the Minnesota Historical Society from 1987 to 2011, as interim general director.

Giuseppe Verdi

Mit Giuseppe Verdis ‘Nabucco’ wird im kommenden Sommer in der fast 400-jährigen Geschichte des Passionstheaters im bayerischen Oberammergau zum ersten Mal eine Oper aufgeführt. Vorgesehen sind ein großer Chor und über 300 Mitwirkende. Ainars Rubikis dirigiert die Neue Philharmonie München. Regie führt Christian Stückl, Premiere ist am 3. Juli 2015.

Bayreuth, Festspielhaus

Nach dem Rausschmiss von Jonathan Meese haben die Bayreuther Festspiele den Intendanten des Hessischen Staatstheaters Wiesbaden, Uwe Eric Laufenberg beauftragt, die Neuinszenierung des ‘Parsifal’ im Jahr 2016 übernehmen. Das Bühnenbild wird Gisbert Jäkel gestalten, die Kostüme Jessica Karge. « Sein Konzept bietet eine ebenso anspruchsvolle wie theatral fesselnde Interpretation des Werks“, sagt Katharina Wagner, « die auch organisatorisch technisch und finanziell realisierbar ist.“

The Metropolitan Opera’s financial situation has become worth in 2013/214. The deficit reached an estimated $22 million, approximately eight times that of the previous season and the Met’s biggest deficit since 1984.
