Die DRP spielte unter der Dirigentin Shiyeon Sung Beethovens Prometheus-Ouvertüre sowie die 1. Symphonie von Johannes Brahms. Salle Pleyel, Paris

Since years, the ex-wife of the former owner of Salle Pleyel in Paris, Carla-Maria Tarditi is fighting against the conversion of the famous hall into a location for non-classical music. Her husband sold the hall to the French state in 2009, and since the management of the new Philharmonic hall in the North-eastern part of the French capital was determined to rule out any possible concurrence, they decided to transform it into an establishment for commercial music. In 1941, over 110,000 people were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators at Babi Yar near Kiev in the Ukraine. It began when 33,771 Jews were killed on just two days, 29th and 30th September 1941, and it continued for the next several years with the murder of tens of thousands of more Jews, as well as Roma/Gypsies, Soviet prisoners-of-war, Ukrainian national activists, and Communist party members from various parts of Ukraine. Beethovenhalle Bonn

Die Sanierung der Beethovenhalle in Bonn wird kostspieliger als angenommen. Statt der vorgesehenen 60 Millionen, die die Stadt investieren wollte, werden jetzt bereits, immer noch vor Beginn der Arbeiten, 65,5 Millionen Euro veranschlagt. Ob es bei dieser Steigerung bleiben wird, ist zu bezweifeln.

Composers and authors in Russia have created a new organization for the collective management of copyright revenues, Russian Authors’ Union (ROAS). According to ROAS, rights holders have lost confidence in the existing four organizations.  The new organiozation was established on the basis of non-profit partnership. The Union elected Maksim Dmitriev Director-General. The main mission of the Union will be to establish the principles of transparency and accountability.

The government of the region of Navarra (Northern Spain) has cut the funding for music institutions by 15 percent. This was reported by the Diario de Navarra. Opera and choir associations are suffering from this budget cuts.

During a concert by the National Youth Orchestra Canada (NYO) at the Maison Symphonique in Montreal, the Minister of Canadian Heritage announced an award of $525,000 for the orchestra’s pan-Canadian signature initiative, Edges of Canada Sesquicentennial Concert Tour. NYO Canada will use the funds to travel to several Norther communities for concerts incorporating collaborations with local Indigenous artists. They will also include mentoring and outreach for aspiring young musicians in each of the communities.
