Most of the concert halls, theatres and opera houses in Paris will remain closed on Sunday November 15, after the terrorist attacks of Friday night. Among the cancelled concerts is also the one of the Jerusalem Quartet at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées.

After an exhausting month of concert activity, Patricia Kopatchinskaja suffers from an arm injury and had to cancel all her concerts until the end of the month.

French conductor Jean-Yves Ossonce has announced that he will quit his job as music director of the Grand Théâtre Lyrique et Symphonique in Tours at the end of the current season. In a letter to the mayor of Tours, he said, that after 16 years at the helm of the theatre and 20 years with the orchestra, he thought that the time has come for a change.

Die österreichische Regierung hat den Wiener Sängerknaben eine erhebliche Mietreduktion für Augartenpalais und Josefstöckel in Wien zugestanden. Anstatt der seit April 2013 vorgeschriebenen Bruttomiete von rund 200.000 Euro pro Jahr sind nunmehr nur rund 40.000 Euro pro Jahr fällig.

Der Direktor der Wiener Staatsoper, Dominique Meyer, hat der Zeitung ‘Der Standard’ gesagt, er suche derzeit keinen Nachfolger für den zurückgetretenen Franz Welser-Möst. In seiner einer zweiten Amtsperiode werde es keinen neuen Musikdirektor geben.

Der 1975 in Paris geborene Alain Altinoglu wurde zum neuen Musikdirektor des ‘Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie’ in Brüssel ernannt. Er tritt sein Amt im Januar 2016 an. Altinoglu ist opernerfahren, mit Dirigaten am ‘Royal Opera House Covent Garden’ in London, an der Bayerischen Staatsoper München am Opernhaus Zürich, bei den Bayreuther Festspielen, an der Wiener Staatsoper, an der ‘Metropolitan Opera New York’ und andren mehr.

Der Freistaat Sachsen und der Stadtstaat Berlin geben innerhalb der Bunderepublik Deutschland pro Einwohner das meiste Geld zur Förderung von Kunst und Kultur aus. Laut jüngst veröffentlichtem Kulturfinanzbericht der Bundesrepublik flossen im Freistaat im Jahr 2011 aus staatlichen und kommunalen Quellen insgesamt 666,9 Millionen Euro in die Förderung von Kunst und Kultur. Das sind pro Einwohner 164,50 Euro und damit die höchsten Pro-Kopf-Ausgaben für diesen Zweck in einem Flächenland. Nur Berlin als Stadtstaat fördert mit noch mehr Mitteln (188,35 Euro). Zum Vergleich: In Luxemburg sind es 187 Euro pro Einwohner.
