Théâtre du Châtelet
The Paris based ‘Théâtre du Châtelet’ announced its next season with important productions devoted to the staging of major film successes. Michel Legrand’s ‘Les parapluies de Cherbourg’ will open the season with Marie Oppert and Vincent Niclo in the lead roles, as well as Natalie Dessay and Laurent Naouri. The composer himself will conduct. In November, there is another movie that will be brought to the stage, ‘An American in Paris’, directed by Christopher Wheeldon. Another ‘Gene Kelly success’ is not to be missed: ‘Singin ‘in the Rain’ will be presented in March 2015.
The ‘Châtelet’ also will present Mozart’s ‘Il Re Pastore’ with conductor Jean-Christophe Spinosi, ‘Le petit prince’, a new opera by Michaël Levinas, and, at the season’s end, Offenbach’s ‘La Belle Hélène’ will return in a new production. Dance projects, concerts and other events complete the program.
