The new Musical City at Ile Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, a Western suburb of Paris, which is supposed to become a tough competitor for the new Philharmonic Hall in the East, has been delayed by half a year. Initially the opening was planned in fall 2016, now the date has been postponed to spring 2017. The € 170 million project, designed by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines will be equipped with a concert hall, an auditorium, rehearsal studios, a music school and shops.
The French Regional Council Hauts-de-Seine has signed a contract with TV broadcaster TF1 about the programming of both of the concert halls. Boulogne-Billancourt based TF1 is a private national French TV channel, controlled by TF1 Group. Seguin hall will have the choir ‘Maîtrise des Hauts-de-Seine’ as well as Laurence Equilbey’s ‘Insula Orchestra’ as residents.
