French city of Clermont-Ferrand is reopening its renovated opera house today with a popular concert. Tomorrow, ‘Orchestre d’Auvergne’ will host a gala with the Albanian opera singer Inva Mula.
The theatre was built from 1891 to 1894 and renovated from 2006 on. In those seven years, the hall, the stage machinery and the backstage area have been entirely modernized, mostly keeping the original design. However the seating is much more comfortable now, the house got an opera-pit which didn’t exist before and the administration area was totally redesigned. The total cost was 18 millions €.
The first opera to be staged in the new theatre is Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’
