At the Polish Embassy in Paris French conductor Marc Minkowski (*1962) has received the Silver Gloria Artis medal for services to Polish culture. Minkowski served for several years as Music Director of Poland’s Sinfonia Varsovia. He has also worked with the National Opera in Warsaw on the production of Moniuszko’s ‘Halka’, and he has conducted the Warsaw Philharmonic, Sinfonietta Cracovia, and the Aukso Orchestra from the town of Tychy. Marc Minkowski is a descendant of a distinguished family of immigrants that has left its mark on French academia and culture over three generations.
