The Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra (Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg, OCL) today announced the appointment of 34-year of German conductor Corinna Niemeyer as the OCL’s artistic and music director. This appointment follows her two-year tenure as Assistant Conductor with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Niemeyer’s contract has started on 15 September and runs for four years.
During her studies, she became Artistic Director of the Orchestre Universitaire de Strasbourg, establishing the orchestra as one of the most active university orchestras in Europe. She also regularly conducts the children’s orchestra (DEMOS) at the Philharmonie de Paris. From 2016 to 2018, she was lecturer and principal conductor at the Sorbonne University in Paris and will continue to be associated with the Sorbonne Orchestra as guest conductor.
