In February, Gazprom Neft, the subsidiary of the state-owned Russian natural gas and oil conglomerate, was allowed to create a ‘private organization’ for security purposes. However, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, this troop is now engaged in fights against Ukraine.
The Moscow Times has said that Gazprom has set up its own private army, named Potok (The Stream), and sent recruits to fight in Ukraine.
For the musical world this is important since Gazprom is one of the main sponsors of Teodor Currentzis’ MusicAeterna orchestra. How long will concert organizers in Europe continue to give Currentzis a podium?
