In a historic collaboration, members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra will join in two concerts later this month at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas.
An ensemble of about 50 musicians from each orchestra will perform Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 under DSO music director Fabio Luisi, who was principal conductor at the Met from 2011 to 2017.
As the DSO has been doing with its own musicians, the Met guests will receive daily COVID-19 tests. The audience each evening will be limited to 400.
The two concerts will be fundraiser events for the Met Orchestra Musicians Fund and the DFW Musicians COVID-19 Relief Fund. The event is sponsored by Southwest Airlines and Marriott.
