Naxos widmet dem ecuadorianischen Komponisten Luis Humberto Salgado (1903–1977) ein zweites Kammermusik-Album. Es besteht größtenteils aus absolut reizvollen und charmanten Tanzminiaturen, die nationalistische und modernistische Stile phantasievoll mischen. Die meisten dieser Stücke wurden von der musikalischen Folklore von Salgados Heimatland inspiriert.
Die 10-minütige Violinsonate klingt modern, ohne den für Salgado typischen Charme zu verlieren.
Im Klavierquintett rahmen zwei üppige, sehr farbige Tanzsätze ein melancholisches Andante sostenuto e cantabile.
Die reizvollen Erstaufnahmen werden von den Kansas Virtuosi – das sind Mitglieder des Lehrkörpers und Absolventen der School of Music an der Universität von Kansas – auf hohem Niveau sehr musikalisch und einfühlsam dargeboten. Empfehlenswert!
Naxos dedicates a second chamber music album to the Ecuadorian composer Luis Humberto Salgado (1903-1977). It consists mostly of absolutely delightful and charming dance miniatures, imaginatively blending nationalist and modernist styles. Most of these pieces were inspired by the musical folklore of Salgado’s homeland.
The 10-minute violin sonata sounds modern without losing any of Salgado’s typical charm.
In the Piano Quintet, two lush, colorful dance movements frame a melancholy Andante sostenuto e cantabile.
The Kansas Virtuosi – members of the faculty and alumni of the School of Music at the University of Kansas – give a highly musical and sensitive performance of these delightful world premiere recordings. Highly recommended!
