Der Pianist Johan Farjot vereint auf dieser CD Klavierwerke der Geschwister Lili und Nadia Boulanger. Er beginnt mi den beiden Préludes und Thème et variations. Es sind drei strenge, fast asketische Stücke, sachlich, wenn nicht düster, welche die seit Kinderjahren kränkelnde Lili damit komponiert hat. Die drei Stücke D’un vieux Jardin, D’un Jardin Clair und Cortège sind ganz anders geartet, das erste ist melancholisch, das zweite sehr farbig, während Cortège ungewöhnlich frisch und fast lustig wirkt.
Das drängende und sehr entschlossen wirkende Stück für 2 Klaviere von Lilis Schwester Nadia hat Johan Farjot allein aufgenommen, zuerst den ersten und danach mittels Aufnahmetechnik den zweiten Part. Es folgen die sehr einfachen und unbekümmerten Petites Pièces, das Morceau pour l’entrée dans la classe de piano femmes du Conservatoire de Paris sowie das sich ausdrucksvoll steigernde Vers la vie nouvelle. Abschließend erklingt das Lied Mon âme, einfühlsam gesungen von Karine Deshayes, neben der Pièce pour 2 pianos und dem ‘Aufnahme’-Stück die dritte Ersteinspielung auf dieser CD.
Johan Farjot ist ein denkbar guter Anwalt dieser Werke, denn es gelingen ihm ungemein intensive und charaktervolle Darstellungen.
The pianist Johan Farjot combines on this CD piano works by the siblings Lili and Nadia Boulanger. He begins with Lili’s two Préludes and Thème et variations. These are three austere, almost ascetic pieces, very rational if not somber, composed by Lili, who had been ailing since childhood. The three pieces D’un vieux Jardin, D’un Jardin Clair and Cortège are quite different in character, the first being melancholy, the second very colorful, while Cortège seems unusually fresh and almost fun.
The urgent and very resolute piece for 2 pianos by Lili’s sister-in-law Nadia was recorded by Johan Farjot alone, first the first and then, by means of recording technique, the second part. This is followed by the very simple and carefree Petites Pièces, the Morceau pour l’entrée dans la classe de piano femmes du Conservatoire de Paris and the expressive Vers la vie nouvelle. Finally, the song Mon âme is sensitively sung by Karine Deshayes, the third premiere recording on this CD, along with the Pièce pour 2 pianos and the examination piece.
Johan Farjot is a very good advocate for these works, as he succeeds in giving intense and characterful performances.
