In chronologischer Reihenfolge spielt der 1964 geborene italienische Pianist Marco Sollini eigene Stücke vom Opus 1 bis zum Opus 27, mit Titeln wie Moonlight Waltz, Elegia, Carillon, Cake-Walk, Serenata Mistero, Studio Inquieto, Vol-au-vent oder Souvenir de Bali. Im Ganzen sind, es (weil zwischendurch einige Nummern fehlen) 24 reizvolle, meist ruhige, oft nachdenkliche Miniaturen, “Rossini-like”, wie Sollini sagt, eine Art von Péchés de Vieillesse, und er habe sie geschrieben ohne Angst, anachronistisch zu wirken.
Wenn man diesen rückwärts tendierenden Stil akzeptiert, kann man nicht sagen, Sollini habe billige Unterhaltung komponiert. Die kleinen Stücke, die stilistisch sicher mehr Anknüpfungspunkte ergeben als bloß Rossini, sind empfunden, einige sind sehr originell (etwa das halluzinatorische Studio Inquieto), und alle haben uns etwas zu sagen.

Because some numbers are missing in between the recording comprises 24 charming, mostly quiet, often thoughtful miniatures, « Rossini-like, » as Sollini says, a kind of péchés de vieillesse, and he wrote them without fear of seeming « out of his time ».
If one accepts this backward-trending style, one cannot say that Sollini composed cheap entertainment. The little pieces, which stylistically certainly give more points of reference than just Rossini, are felt, some are very original (such as the hallucinatory Studio Inquieto), and all have something to tell us.
