Ich habe dieses Album blind abgehört und dachte, ich hätte es mit einem Komponisten des späten 19. oder frühen 20. Jahrhunderts zu tun. Der amerikanische, in Florida lebende Komponist John D. Gottsch ist aber erst 1950 geboren. Seine Musik ist trotzdem sehr tonal und im klassischen Stil komponiert, so dass es so manchem Fervent zeitgenössischer Musik übel aufstoßen wird, was aber den flotten und originellen Kompositionen nichts anhaben kann, vorausgesetzt, man kann sich als Hörer auf diese einfache Art von Musik einlassen.
Alle Werke sind recht rezent und wurden zwischen 2018 und 2023 komponiert. Sie zeigen einen phantasievollen Komponisten, der Lust an der Vermischung von Tradition mit tonalen neuen Klängen hat. Das Spiel der Interpreten ist hervorragend. Dank einer sehr guten Aufnahmetechnik kommen alle Klänge sehr plastisch zur Geltung und das virtuose und begeisterte Spiel aller Instrumentalisten wertet John. D. Gottschs Kammermusik dann noch mal auf.
I listened to this album blind and thought I was dealing with a composer from the late 19th or early 20th century. However, the American composer John D. Gottsch, who lives in Florida, was not born until 1950. His music is nevertheless very tonal and composed in a classical style, so that some fans of contemporary music will be offended, but this does not detract from the lively and original compositions, provided that the listener can get involved with this simple type of music.
All the works are quite recent and were composed between 2018 and 2023. They show an imaginative composer who enjoys blending tradition with tonal new sounds. The performers’ playing is outstanding. Thanks to a very good recording technique, all the sounds come across very vividly and the virtuoso and enthusiastic playing of all the instrumentalists enhances John. D. Gottsch’s chamber music.
