Nach fast 40 Jahren kommt diese betagte Aufnahme mit Werken von Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdys talentierter Schwester auf den Markt. Sie war 1985 nur als LP herausgebracht worden.
Die Klangqualität ist nur mittelmäßig, und der Bechstein-Flügel klingt nicht sonderlich schön. Das enge Klangbild hat aber auch Vorzüge. Die Musik erklingt nicht weich oder gar süßlich, der resonanzarme Klang und das eher herbe Spiel von Sontraud Speidel vermitteln Fanny Hensels Klavierwerke auf recht ansprechende Weise.
Die Pianistin spielt gut, gestaltet aber wenig. Glücklicherweise sind die eingespielten Werke, so gut komponiert, dass die Musik für sich steht und dieses Fanny Hensel-Album Freude macht und durchaus Interesse verdient.
After almost 40 years, this aged recording of works by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s talented sister is now on the market. It was only released as an LP in 1985.
The sound quality is only mediocre, and the Bechstein grand piano does not sound particularly beautiful. However, the narrow sound image also has its advantages. The music does not sound soft or even cloying, the low-resonance sound and the rather austere playing of Sontraud Speidel convey Fanny Hensel’s piano works in a quite appealing way.
The pianist plays well, but doesn’t create much. Fortunately, the recorded works are so well composed that the music stands on its own and this Fanny Hensel album is a pleasure to listen to and definitely deserves interest.
