The Association Forum International presents the 36th edition of the International Courses for Flute and Piano, which will take place in Diekirch from July 19 to 28. While the flute classes are fully booked, some opportunities exist for the piano classes, the organizer says.
Both are international advanced courses for students from Luxembourg and abroad. Each participant will have the opportunity to work daily with each of the participating teachers in individual and/or group lessons. In the group lessons, general technical problems will be dealt with. In the individual lessons, works from the repertoire are studied in collaboration with the accompanying pianists. During the student concerts, each participant, regardless of age or level, has the opportunity to perform in public. Starting from the idea of bringing together young musicians of all ages and levels to perfect their individual and collective skills, the search for the best teachers with a solid international artistic and pedagogical reputation has always been a priority.
Since 1988, more than 1,200 young people of 61 different nationalities have participated in these music courses. Famous artist-teachers such as Maxence Larrieu, Robert Aitken, János Balint, Jean-Michel Tanguy, Konrad Hünteler, Wally Hase, Gaby Pas-van Riet, Thomas Duis and Daniel Blumenthal …e.a. have been engaged. Daniel Blumenthal has been teaching piano since 1990.
More than 215 concerts have been organized to introduce the teachers and students of the Forum to the Luxembourg public. The Forum has built up such a reputation in Europe and the rest of the world that it attracts young people from all over the world every year. Most of the young people who have participated in the Forum in the past have gone on to become professional musicians, orchestral musicians or teachers, and about fifty of the participants are pursuing a career as professional musicians in Luxembourg. The first students of former participants, now teachers, are already enrolling at the Forum, ensuring that the Forum’s reputation will continue to grow.
The following have been hired as teachers for 2024. As piano teacher, American pianist Daniel Blumenthal (USA-Belgium) from the Royal Flemish Conservatory Brussels has been rehired.
