Shortly after highly successful concerts in Qatar and before conducing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Zagreb Philharmonic in Croatia, Dmitrij Kitajenko accepted to take the baton at Copenhagen’s Koncerthuset for two concerts with the Danish National Orchestra, March 6 and 8. After the cancellation of Lorin Maazel, the Orchestra immediately contacted his former First Guest conductor and asked him whether he could take over both of the concerts. Dmitrij Kitajenko continues to work regularly with the Danish National Orchestra and is a Guest conductor who is treasured by the musicians as well as by the audience. Argentinean soloist Sol Gabetta will play the Cello Concerto in a pure Dvorák programme which has been kept entirely by Dmitrij Kitajenko, with, in addition, Dvorák’s Carnival Overture and the Ninth Symphony, From the New World.
