Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Möst, 64, has been advised by his doctors not to travel and to rest and recuperate for the next three weeks. Apparently the recent tour with the Cleveland Orchestra was too exhausting for him. That’s the reason why Welser-Möst, who is Music director of the Cleveland Orchestra, will miss his first three scheduled appearances of the 2024-25 Severance Music Center season.
Despite the fact that the conductors is “making excellent progress” in his cancer treatment, he deals with side effects, the Orchestra said in a news release.
