Der 1951 geborene belgische Komponist Robert Groslot ist ein Multitalent: Pianist, Dirigent, Komponist und Maler, denn ein Bild eigener Kreation ziert das Cover seiner neuen CD bei Naxos. Sein Klavierkonzert hatte er mit demselben Solisten, Jan Michiels, schon im Eigenverlag herausgegeben, und jetzt hat er das Werk zusammen mit dem Brussels Philharmonic für Naxos eingespielt.

Es ist ein aufgeregtes Stück Musik, fast eine halbe Stunde lang, flatterhaft, oft wie gejagt, manchmal mit grotesken Zügen. Im Grunde ist es aber kein düsteres Werk, es hat in seiner Energetik eher etwas Beflügelndes.

Das Cellokonzert ist ein nicht weniger phantasievolles Stück, das dem Cellisten Gelegenheit gibt, mit lyrischen Kantilenen wie auch mit kräftiger Virtuosität zu glänzen. Das tut hier Ilia Yourivich Laporev, Solocellist beim Philharmonischen Orchester Luxemburg.

Das Harfenkonzert, das kürzeste Stück der CD, erlaubt einen interessanten Dialog der Harfe mit verschiedenen Orchesterinstrumenten. Es ist ein lebhaftes Stück, das jedem Hörer gefallen dürfte.

Und so zeigt denn dieses ganze Programm die Einfallskraft des Komponisten, der nicht nur sehr gute verschiedene Stile absorbiert und verarbeitet hat, sondern sich zudem durch brillante Orchestrierungen auszeichnet.

The Belgian composer Robert Groslot, born in 1951, is a multi-talent: pianist, conductor, composer and painter. A picture of his own creation adorns the cover of his new CD from Naxos.
He had already published his piano concerto with the same soloist, Jan Michiels, and now he has recorded the work together with the Brussels Philharmonic for Naxos.
It is an animated piece of music, almost half an hour long, fluttering, often hectic, sometimes grotesque. Basically, however, it is not a gloomy work; its energetic qualities are rather inspiring.
The Cello Concerto is no less imaginative, giving the cellist the opportunity to shine with lyrical cantilenas and powerful virtuosity. It is brilliantly played by Ilia Yourivich Laporev, solo cellist with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra
The Harp Concerto, the shortest piece on the CD, allows an interesting dialogue of the harp with various orchestral instruments. It is a lively piece that should please every listener.
And so this whole program shows the imagination of the composer, who has not only absorbed and very well processed different styles, but also distinguishes himself through brilliant orchestrations.
