Der irische Komponist Vincent Kennedy komponiert ganz in der Tradition der British Light Music. Inspirieren lässt er sich von den Menschen, der Mystik, der Mythologie, der Geschichte und den Landschaften seiner Heimat. Dabei verwendet er Soloinstrumente wie Geige und Cello sowie die Uilleann Pipes, den irischen Dudelsack.
Kennedy sagt: « Musik ist ein treuer Freund: immer da, um zu erheben, abzulenken, zu färben und zu trösten. Ich schreibe Musik, um das Leben zu bereichern, und schöpfe meine Inspiration aus vielen Quellen und Möglichkeiten, wie eine Biene, die den Nektar verschiedener Blumen nutzt, um einen einzigartigen Honig zu produzieren. »
Die Musik ist oft melancholisch, meditativ oder kontemplativ, hin und wieder auch, wie in The First Steam Train in Ireland, heiter und farbig.
Wenn auch nicht alle Stücke sehr charaktervoll und einprägsam sind, so vereint dieses Album doch genügend Stücke um es attraktiv werden zu lassen.
Den Tontechnikern ist ein guter Klang gelungen, und so ist dies ein Album, das Liebhaber symphonischer Unterhaltungsmusik gefallen wird.
The Irish composer Vincent Kennedy composes in the tradition of British Light Music. He is inspired by the people, mysticism, mythology, history and landscapes of his homeland. He uses solo instruments such as the violin and cello as well as the uilleann pipes, the Irish bagpipes
Kennedy says: « Music has been a faithful friend: always there to uplift, distract, colour, and comfort. I write music to enrich life and take my inspiration from many sources and possibilities, like a bee using the nectar of different flowers to produce a unique honey. »
The music is often melancholic, meditative or contemplative, and occasionally, as in ‘The First Steam Train in Ireland’, cheery and colorful.
Even if not all the pieces are very characterful and memorable, this album combines enough pieces to make it attractive.
The sound engineers have achieved a good sound, and so this is an album that will please lovers of symphonic light music,
