Long Beach Symphony announced that after a two-year search a new musical director has been selected to succeed Enrique Diemecke: German Eckart Preu is the orchestra’s new Music Director Designate.
Preu, 46, will begin his tenure with the Long Beach Symphony as its 8th Music Director in the 2017–2018 season. He currently serves as Music Director of the Spokane Symphony (WA) and Stamford Symphony (CT) and previously held the positions of Associate Conductor of the Richmond Symphony (2001–2004), Resident Conductor of the American Symphony Orchestra (1997–2004) and of the American Russian Young Artists Orchestra (1999–2004).
Founded in 1935 Long Beach Symphony as a permanent and professional symphonic orchestra in Los Angeles County, Southern California.
