Diese Gesamteinspielung der Streichquartette op. 76 von Joseph Haydn ist technisch beachtlich, kontrastreich und sehr lebendig. Die Musik bleibt so immer direkt rhetorisch, denn die Feinheiten des farblichen, agogischen, artikulatorischen und dynamischen Ausdrucks garantieren ein unmittelbar sprechendes Spiel. Und doch spielt das Quatuor Akos mit einer Ernsthaftigkeit, die der Vielfalt von Haydns Gefühlswelt nicht gerecht wird.
Mir fehlt das Geistreiche, Humorvolle, und so manches Trio wird mit einem eher aufgesetzt als natürlich klingenden ländlichen Charakter dargeboten. Da denke ich oft an die Aufnahmen des Auryn Quartetts zurück, das in der Balance von hoher Kunst und würzigem Spiel, von intimer Subtilität und spielerischem Elan so erquickend in ihrer frischen Herzlichkeit sind.
This complete recording of Joseph Haydn’s string quartets op. 76, is technically remarkable, rich in contrast, and very lively. The music thus always remains directly rhetorical, for the subtleties of color, agogic, articulatory, and dynamic expression guarantee an immediately speaking performance. And yet the Quatuor Akos plays with a seriousness that does not do justice to the diversity of Haydn’s emotional world.
I miss the witty, humorous, and many a trio is performed with an artificial rather than natural-sounding rural character. I then think back to the Auryn Quartet recordings, which are so invigorating in their balance of high art and savory playing, of intimate subtlety and playful verve.
