Die Salade lyonnaise, der Lyoner Salat, ist ein gemischter Salat aus Lyon, mit grünen Salatblättern, gebratenen und geräucherten Speckwürfeln, in Butter gebräunten Croutons aus trockenem Brot, pochierten Eiern und einer Vinaigrettesauce. In vorliegendem Fall aber ist es ein Programm von 35 Nummern mit Musik von drei Komponisten aus Lyon, Georges-Martin Witkowski (1867-1943), Claude Terrasse (1868-1923) und Ennemond Trillat (1890-1980).
Terrasse spezialisierte sich in der Theatermusik und bekam schnell den Titel « Prinz der französischen Operette ».
Witkowski, der in Paris bei Vincent d’Indy an der Schola Cantorum studiert hatte, gründete in Lyon eine Schule mit demselben Namen und später die Société des Grands Concerts (1905), aus der das Orchestre National de Lyon hervorging.
Ennemond Trillat verfolgte eine glänzende und facettenreiche Karriere als Lehrer, Konzertpianist, Kammermusiker, Komponist und Musikwissenschaftler.
Der Verlag beschreibt die CD so: « Diese drei Komponisten (…) behandeln Rabelais’sche und epikureische Themen, Humor und Folklore, indem sie Szenen aus dem Alltag oder dem Liebesleben, lustige Figuren, Tiere mit heilenden Kräften, Blumen als Boten und kulinarische Rezepte aufgreifen, all dies vor einem musikalischen Hintergrund, der entweder archaisierend oder entschieden modern ist. »
Das ergibt ein meist sehr humoristisches Programm, oft ironisch, wenn nicht grotesk oder richtig schräg, welches französischer nicht sein könnte und vom Enemble Kaïnios mit Gusto und genau so viel Esprit dargeboten wird.
The Salade lyonnaise, the Lyon salad, is a mixed salad from Lyon, with green salad leaves, fried smoked bacon cubes, croutons of dry bread browned in butter, poached eggs and a vinaigrette sauce. In the present case, however, it is a program of 35 numbers with music by three Lyon composers, Georges-Martin Witkowski (1867-1943), Claude Terrasse (1868-1923) and Ennemond Trillat (1890-1980).
Terrasse specialized in theater music and quickly earned the title « Prince of French Operetta. »
Witkowski, who had studied in Paris with Vincent d’Indy at the Schola Cantorum, founded a school of the same name in Lyon and later the Société des Grands Concerts (1905), which became the Orchestre National de Lyon.
Ennemond Trillat pursued a brilliant and multifaceted career as a teacher, concert pianist, chamber musician, composer, and musicologist.
The publisher describes the CD this way, « These three Lyon composers, with their unique destinies, are united on this new CD. They deal with Rabelaisian and Epicurean themes, humor and folklore, taking up scenes from everyday life or love life, funny characters, animals with healing powers, flowers as messengers, and culinary recipes, all against a musical background that is either archaic or decidedly modern. »
This results in a mostly very humorous program, often ironic if not grotesque or really weird, which could not be more French and is performed by Enemble Kaïnios with gusto and just as much esprit.
