Das Album El collar de la Paloma der Capella de Ministrers basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Buch des andalusischen Humanisten, Dichters und Schriftstellers Ibn Hazm (994-1064). El collar de la Paloma (Die Halskette der Taube) ist sein berühmtestes Werk. Darin entwirft er eine realistische und elegant geschriebene Studie über Liebe und Sitten im spanisch-arabischen Liebesleben des 11. Jahrhunderts. Carles Magraner hat das Programm in fünf Themen-Blöcke gegliedert, die sich um die Grundlagen der Liebe drehen. Die Musik ist arabisch-andalusisch, angereichert mit zahlreichen Improvisationen.
Neben Magraner (Viola da gamba) wirken mit: die Sängerin Iman Kandoussi, Robert Cases (Harfe und Rubab), Aziz Samsaoui (Kanun, Oud und Saz), Kaveh Sarvarian (Nay und Tombak) und Miguel Ángel Orero (Schlagwerk).
Die CD ist unglaublich musikalisch und springt das Ohr regelrecht an. Mit ihrer wandlungsfähigen Stimme ist Iman Kandoussi eine höchst willkommene Besetzung. Sie kann die verschiedenen Lieder ihrem Charakter und ihren Stimmungen nach perfekt differenzieren. Die Instrumentalisten sind allesamt phänomenal, mit seiner typisch orientalischen Färbung ist ihr Spiel von faszinierender rhythmischer Vielfalt und auch affektreich, um den Gefühlen den richtigen Ausdruck zu geben.
Was hier an Spielfreude, Klangsinn und Stilgefühl geboten wird, verschlägt einem den Atem und lässt einen eine gute Stunde lang in die sensuelle Welt des Ibn Hazm eintauchen.
Die Tonaufnahme ist optimal ausgewogen und räumlich, extrem klar und präzise in der Wiedergabe des vom Ensemble und der Sängerin erzeugten Klangbilds.
The album El collar de la Paloma by Capella de Ministrers is based on the book of the same name by the Andalusian humanist, poet and writer Ibn Hazm (994-1064). El collar de la Paloma (The Necklace of the Dove) is his most famous work. In it, he creates a realistic and elegantly written study of love and customs in 11th century Spanish-Arabic love life. Carles Magraner has divided the program into five thematic blocks that revolve around the fundamentals of love. The music is Arabic-Andalusian, enriched with numerous improvisations.
In addition to Magraner (viola da gamba), the performers include singer Iman Kandoussi, Robert Cases (harp and rubab), Aziz Samsaoui (kanun, oud and saz), Kaveh Sarvarian (nay and tombak) and Miguel Ángel Orero (percussion).
The CD is incredibly musical and really jumps out at the ear. With her versatile voice, Iman Kandoussi is a most welcome addition to the cast. She can perfectly differentiate the various songs according to their character and moods. The instrumentalists are all phenomenal. With its typical oriental coloring, their playing is of fascinating rhythmic variety and also rich in affect to give the right expression to the feelings.
What is offered here in terms of joy of playing, sense of sound and sense of style takes one’s breath away and allows one to immerse oneself in the sensual world of Ibn Hazm for a good hour.
The sound recording is optimally balanced and spatial, extremely clear and precise in the reproduction of the sound image created by the ensemble and the singer.
