Der 1954 in Turin geborene amerikanische Komponist John A. Carollo sagt: « Music should express the drama of life ». Sein eigenes Leben verlief so: Er wurde trotz musikalischer Studien Psychologe und nahm erst 1997 wieder den musikalischen Unterricht auf. 2006 gab er den Psychologen-Beruf auf, um sich ganz dem Komponieren zu widmen.

Seine Dritte Symphonie entwickelte er aus dem Liederzyklus Awake Humanity to Nature’s Beauty! In der Symphonie hat er nach eigener Aussage auch die Schönheit von Hawaii einfließen lassen, wo er lebt. Es gibt in ihr neben dem groß besetzten Orchester auch ein Klavier, eine Solovioline und eine vokalisierend eingesetzte Sopranstimme.

Carollos Dritte ist ein neoromantisches Werk, teilweise energetisch und feurig, teilweise idyllisch und lyrisch und wird in dieser Aufnahme auf hohem Niveau vom London Symphony Orchestra unter Miram Vaupotic aufgeführt.

The American composer John A Carollo, born in 1954 in Turin, says: « Music should express the drama of life ». Despite his musical studies, he became a psychologist and only resumed musical education in 1997. In 2006 he gave up his profession as a psychologist to devote himself entirely to composing.
He developed his Third Symphony from the song cycle Awake Humanity to Nature’s Beauty! In the symphony, he said, he also incorporated the beauty of Hawaii, where he lives. In addition to the large orchestra, the work also features a piano, a solo violin and a vocalizing soprano voice.
Carollo’s Third is a neo-romantic work, partly energetic and fiery, partly idyllic and lyrical and in this recording is performed at a high level by the London Symphony Orchestra under Miram Vaupotic.
