6 CDs, 55 Tracks, 18 Sonaten mit jeweils 3 Sätzen und, nach der 13. Sonate eingeschoben, die Fantasia KV 475: Elisabeth Leonskaja hat alle Klaviersonaten von Mozart eingespielt. Sie musste 75 werden, um diese rund 400 Minuten Musik in nur sechs Tagen in die Toncomputer zu bannen, also jeden Tag eine ganze CD.
Dieser Mozart ist trotz recht forschen Spielens eher unaufdringlich, er klingt natürlich, sachlich, aber immer wach. Die Sonaten sind klar artikuliert, die Musik ist transparent, gesteuert von Leonskajas klassischem Herzschlag und ihrer immer noch beachtlichen Fingerfertigkeit. Die Mischung ist kräftig, frisch und hell gefärbt, mit hie und da einem Schatten, der die Sonne aber kaum je wirklich verdrängen kann.
Und irgendwie kommt das Ganze mir dann vor wie ein Pater Noster. Man kann während der über sechs Stunden aus- und einsteigen, wo und wann man will, man ist immer im selben Fahrstuhl.
6 CDs, 55 tracks, 18 sonatas with 3 movements each and, inserted after the 13th sonata, the Fantasia KV 475: Elisabeth Leonskaja has recorded all of Mozart’s piano sonatas. She had to turn 75 in order to record these approximately 400 minutes of music in only six days, i.e. a whole CD every day.
This Mozart, despite quite brisk playing, is rather unobtrusive, natural, rational, but always alert. The sonatas are clearly articulated, the music is transparent, controlled by Leonskaya’s classical heartbeat and her still considerable dexterity. The mix is strong, fresh and brightly colored, with a shadow here and there but hardly ever really displacing the sun.
And somehow the whole thing then feels like a Pater Noster. You can get off and on wherever and whenever you want during the more than six hours, you are always in the same elevator.
