The Toronto based Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir has announced that Music Director Elisa Citterio has renewed her contract through to the end of the orchestra’s 44th concert season in 2022/23. Her tenure began in 2017, when she succeeded Jeanne Lamon, who was for 33 years at the helm of the orchestra.
Italian violinist Elisa Citterio moved to Toronto from her native Italy, where she divided her artistic life between orchestral work and an intense schedule as a chamber musician. She has recorded and toured, often as leader or concertmaster, with such ensembles as Europa Galante, Accademia Bizantina, Zefiro, Il Giardino Armonico, and Balthasar-Neumann Choir & Ensemble (Thomas Hengelbrock). From 2004 to 2017 she was a member of the Orchestra del Teatro della Scala di Milano.
