Im Juni 2021 inszenierte Château de Versailles Spectacles auf dem Peristyle des Grand Trianon in Versailles die Rekonstruktion eines Festes, das 1687 unter freiem Himmel auf dem Pincio-Hügel zu Ehren von Ludwig XIV. veranstaltet worden war. Kardinal d’Estrées, der französische Botschafter beim Heiligen Stuhl wollte damit sowohl die Genesung des Königs nach der erfolgreichen Operation seiner Analfistel feiern als auch sein Ansehen als Beschützer der katholischen Kirche zu ehren. Dafür hatte er Corellis Orchester in großer Besetzung engagiert.
In Versailles musizierten die Ensembles EXIT und Hemiolia unter der Leitung von Emmanuel Resche, der auch das Programm nach historischen Angaben zusammengestellt hat. Château de Versailles Spectacles ließ dieses Programm im Innern des Schlosses, also nicht unter freiem Himmel aufnehmen und legt es nun als CD vor.
Auffallend sind die eher moderaten Tempi von Emmanuel Resche, die zu einem wohl feierlichen, insgesamt aber recht beschaulichen Musizieren führen. Wer sich etwas mehr Pep wünscht, wird enttäuscht werden. Wer selig wiegende Barockmusik mag, wird sich an dieser CD erfreuen. Sie bietet rund 60 Minuten einer ernsthaft-feierlichen Mischung aus Corellis Concerti Grossi und wird empfindsam und nuancenreich mit einem eher weichen Gesamtklang musiziert, frei von Manierismen und Extremen, entspannt und entspannend.
Zum Programm gehört auch die von Alessandro Melani komponierte Cantate en l’honneur du Roi de France (Kantate zu Ehren des Königs von Frankreich), die mit Emmanuelle de Negri solistisch adäquat besetzt ist.

Those who wish for more pep will be disappointed, but those who like blissfully lulling baroque music will enjoy this CD. It offers about 60 minutes of a seriously celebratory mix of Corelli’s Concerti Grossi and is sensitively and nuancedly performed with a rather mellow sound, free of mannerisms and extremes, relaxed and relaxing.
